Auckland Museum is committed to reach and be relevant to all, by inspiring discoveries, enriching lives and connecting people through sharing stories of our people, land and seas. As a publicly funded and public facing body the Museum has a responsibility to be as accessible as possible to all our communities – on site, off site and on line.
On site – through collections, research, events, exhibitions and programmes
Off site – through outreach programmes and events
On line – through the website, e-learning programmes and social media
Located in one of New Zealand’s finest heritage buildings, Auckland Museum is recognised as holding nationally and internationally significant collections and tells the story of New Zealand, its place in the Pacific and its people. The Museum is a war memorial for the province of Auckland and holds one of New Zealand’s top three heritage libraries. It has pre-eminent Maori and Pacific collections, significant natural history resources and major social and military history collections, as well as decorative arts and pictorial collections.
The Museum is home to millions of objects, provides educational services to over 40,000 school children annually and is one of New Zealand’s most popular man-made tourist attractions with over 800,000 visitors each year. Over 200 full-time staff and 300 volunteers help maintain the Museum and its very special collections.
Behind much of the Museum’s work often lies a bequest, whether it is for research, events, collections, commemoration, exhibitions or programmes.
Bequests are an effective way of keeping the very heart of this respected institution beating and guaranteeing the long-term future of the Auckland Museum.
By leaving a gift in your will to the Auckland Museum, you can bring both ancient and recent history alive for children and adults alike. You can chose to direct your financial gift to a specific area in the Museum's work and we very much value the opportunity to learn more about our bequestors’ interests and wishes and are happy to chat.
A bequest, whatever the size, is a special and treasured gift.
