We are a not for profit Foundation which is strongly committed to raise the awareness of Bowel Cancer within New Zealand and to assist in the early detection of the disease.
With over 2800 people diagnosed each year it is important to educate the general public to recognise the symptoms and take early action to prevent the onset and spread of the cancer.
With these numbers expected to increase by up to 15% for men and 19% for women by 2016, the Foundation believes that more colorectal nurses are needed and more complimentary procedures to reduce colonoscopy waiting lists within New Zealand.
The Foundation supports the Governments current Bowel Screening Pilot Program in the Waitemata District and recognises the need for dedicated resources towards a National Workforce Development Program.
The Foundation's fundraising efforts are directed towards reducing colonoscopy waiting lists and supporting the ongoing training of colorectal nurses for New Zealanders. The more colonoscopies performed and the more nurses available to detect the symptoms and cancers, the more lives will be saved.
