Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system (the brain, optic nerves and spinal cord).
Multiple Sclerosis can cause visual problems, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration. There are approximately 4,000 people in New Zealand diagnosed with MS. A diagnosis is devastating and is life changing for the person as well as their family and loved ones. The cause of MS is still unknown and there is no cure. It is more common in young adults, with symptoms usually appearing between the ages of 20 and 50.
Multiple Sclerosis Auckland is a charitable organisation, managed by a small office team who handle the running of the Society. A team of professional Field Workers cover the Auckland region providing home visits, phone contact and information to people affected by Multiple Sclerosis, and their families. Other services include Wellness Workshops, Rehabilitation programmes, Support Groups, Research days, and a quarterly magazine.
A volunteer committee oversees the work and direction of Multiple Sclerosis Auckland.
With government funding on the decline making a bequest to MS Auckland can make all the difference in ensuring the continued support of the Multiple Sclerosis community in Auckland.
There are several ways to leave a gift to Multiple Sclerosis Auckland in your Will:
A Will is an important document and we suggest you discuss your wish to leave a bequest with a solicitor or trustee company and talk about the possible options.
