The Garden to Table programme is changing the way children approach and think about food.

Our Mission:
We want to see children in the garden and kitchen having fun, getting their hands dirty and growing, cooking and eating fresh, nourishing food that they’ve prepared themselves. To do this we need to give them the knowledge, skills and, importantly, the desire to change their eating habits, together with those of their family and whanau.

The Issue:
Childhood obesity is a significant health issue in New Zealand with 1 in 9 children aged 2-14 considered clinically obese. The World Health Organisation’s Report of the Commission on Ending Childhood Obesity has identified a comprehensive and integrated food education programme as part of a sustainable solution, and that’s where Garden to Table comes in. By creating the desire and providing the skills to change behaviour, we can make lasting, meaningful change for today’s children and future generations.
