About Mary Potter Hospice
Mary Potter Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to the people of Wellington from Seatoun to Waikanae.
Palliative care is caring for terminally ill people and their families where there is no curative treatment. To do this we have a specialist In-Patient Unit in Newtown with 18 beds, and three community palliative care teams based in Wellington, Kapiti and Porirua. The bulk of our work is in the community in the patient’s home. For example, on any one day, we have 240 to 260 people in the care of our community teams. We care for 850 people a year.
Our services are free.
Why Mary Potter Hospice needs your support.
Once you have taken care of your family and friends, you can remember Mary Potter Hospice through a gift in your Will.
Every year, Mary Potter Hospice provides care and support to terminally ill patients and their families as they travel on one of life’s toughest journeys. Whether they live at home, in a rest home or are having a short stay in our eighteen bed inpatient facility, Mary Potter Hospice is with them all the way, providing practical, emotional and spiritual support so that patients can live every moment of the time they have left.
You can leave a gift in your Will to either The Mary Potter Hospice Foundation where it can be used operationally by the Hospice, or the Hospice’s endowment fund -The Forever Foundation – where the funds are invested and the interest earned will provide long term income for the Hospice.
We could not provide patients with free care without the ongoing support of our community.
Our thanks to all who have supported us with a gift in their will.
