Include A Charity Members say...
Our members, both, big and small, have seen significant short and long term benefits as a result of being involved in the Include A Charity campaign.
Here is what some of them say...
"IAC is a great initiative that has now proven it can benefit member organisations in several ways, from generating leads for a bequest programme, generating confirmed bequestors, providing in-depth research not available from other sources, and assisting member charities to make the most of their opportunities through training and marketing collateral. The more charities that join IAC the stronger the message will be to New Zealanders and the more positive impact we can have on this incredibly important income stream for New Zealand charities."
Lyn Thomas, Head of Supporter Relationships, Blind Foundation
"Being a part of Include A Charity has been an awesome vehicle to help us grow this income stream. We are finding that it is good to have bequests as an option, another way to support us which is very different from other donations.”
Dave Marsh, Fundraising and Communications Manager, Christchurch Methodist Mission
“The material that Include A Charity provided was thorough and adaptable and enabled us to utilise our collateral templates to create a brochure. We tied in a direct mail ask to our base using the fellowship example and followed that up with social media. Part of the campaign was to create corresponding video content to increase engagement. This was all scheduled at the back end of the Include a Charity Week to increase recall.
After two weeks the video had been viewed over 9,000 times and we had two people contact us directly to let us know they had included us in their will. One was for $10,000 and the other a “substantial percentage of my estate”. Who knows what action we have sparked elsewhere, we’ll just have to wait and see! As one donor put it, “You’ll have to wait, I’m not ready to pop my clogs just yet!”
Joshua Koko, Fundraising Manager, New Zealand AIDS Foundation
"Include A Charity week offers opportunities for smaller charities to benefit from the promotional campaign by alignment with larger well–known charities. It introduces the charity to a new audience while keeping the bequest programme higher on the agenda within the organisation. We’ve noticed more people coming forward to offer bequests and this is in part due to this increasingly trusted campaign brand. Our society’s bequest programme has certainly gathered momentum since our involvement in the campaign."
Taryn Banks, Operations Manager, Auckland Deaf Society Inc
"Chamber Music New Zealand has been thrilled to be involved in Include a Charity Week. It has provided us with an excellent platform for us to make a soft introduction to bequests."
Gemma Robinson, Development Executive, Chamber Music New Zealand
"Thank you so much for the bequests training, it was really interesting and very useful. I think you pitched it so that it was relevant to all levels of experience in the room which was brilliant and something which is quite tricky to do. I really enjoyed it and definitely learnt from the session."
Jess Winchester, Major Gifts and Bequests Manager, Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society of New Zealand
"Mercy Hospice Auckland relies heavily on income from bequests and we felt confident that a national awareness campaign about including a charity in your Will, combined with our existing bequest programme, would increase our income from bequests. This proved to be correct and it has enabled us to build relationships with valuable donors, and if they permit us, share their stories with other donors to encourage them to do the same.
This years Member’s Campaign Kit was packed with handy hints and the messages we used most often were, ‘not forgetting to remember family first’ and ‘gifts large and small will make a difference’. Joining IAC has been a good investment in our bequest programme, for now and in the future."
Anne Wright, Planned Giving Coordinator, Mercy Hospice Auckland
