Three New Zealanders a week are paralysed by a spinal cord injury or impairment. I’m sure you know someone. A car crash, a sports injury, an illness or a fall can do it. In a second, lives are changed forever. The effect on them and their families can’t be underestimated. You can imagine the toll on relationships, jobs, hobbies and the whole new world they have to cope with. By leaving a gift in your will you are helping Kiwi’s affected by spinal cord injuries and impairments (SCI) live independent, confident and productive lives through world class peer support, vocational rehabilitation, and educational resources. The New Zealand Spinal Trust was formed in 1994 by Prof Alan Clarke to address the unmet needs of rehabilitation, information, research and support for people with an SCI throughout New Zealand. This is regardless of whether someone is a new patient in hospital or many years post injury and living in the community. Three key services are delivered from the Burwood Spinal Unit in Christchurch, and the Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit in Otara. These services are free of charge to anyone in NZ who has a spinal cord injury or impairment. Not many people realise that over 80% of the New Zealand Spinal Trust’s funding coming from grants and donations, which makes your consideration to leave a bequest in your will incredibly important for Kiwis facing a spinal cord injury or impairment. Thank you for considering us in your legacy. Your support will help create bright new futures. |
