The Otago Medical Research Foundation does not receive any financial assistance from the Government. We rely entirely on donations, bequests and fundraising projects to allow the identification and nurturing of world-class research at a catalyst level.

The projects and scholarships the Foundation establishes are scientifically worthy but often viewed as too small for consideration by the major funding organisations. However, without these investigations getting underway, larger research projects simply wouldn’t eventuate. Much of the Foundation’s work is now internationally acclaimed.

You can help fund our important medical research by making a donation or notifying a bequest. If you wish to have your contribution take the form of a legacy or bequest, you should obtain legal advice.

We all benefit from medical research - through earlier diagnosis and better, less invasive treatment leading to a greater quality of life.
