Students' learning continues because of a bequest
The Cotter Warrior Foundation, a nonprofit organization, will award 12 new scholarships this year with funding through a bequest of property in Gassville by Dorothy "Scottie" Reeves.
The donor, who was born in Wichita, Kan., in 1927 and died in February 2013, resided in Gassville after she and husband, John A. Reeves, retired.
The Gassville property was sold at auction Aug. 10, according to foundation board member Sandy Wilhite, with the auction company waiving its commission.
The bequest by Reeves will have a "profound effect on many more CHS students in future classes," Wilhite said.
