We save lives on NZ Beaches and in our communities through our lifeguards and other members.
In it for Life
Every summer millions of people flock to beaches all over New Zealand and for over 100 years Surf Lifeguards have been watching over these people to help them enjoy the beach and return home safe. These Surf Lifeguards are ordinary Kiwis that give up their weekends and holidays to keep people save our beaches and are always fully prepared to put their own lives at risk for the safety of others.
Each year over 4,500 lifeguards complete over 220,000 hours of patrol and performing around 1,300 rescues. Surf Life Saving New Zealand is the National body representing and supporting the 74 Surf Life Saving Clubs across the country. Our Lifeguards complete many hours of training and give their time each year to protect our community in the water.
For our 19,000 members Surf Lifesaving is not just a community service or sport it is a way of life – We are “in it for life”.
Funds are used to support lifeguards on the beach with training and resources that enable them to perform this valuable safety service for the community. A bequest can be used to help lifeguard across the country or in a specific area. We can tailor the gift to the donors wishes.
